Vipers Seek to Stretch Lead as Villa Face Entebbe Test

League leaders Vipers SC will look to strengthen their grip at the summit when they host struggling Calvary FC at St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Venoms head into the contest in confident mood following successive victories over Mbarara City FC and UPDF FC. Another win would help them restore a four–point cushion at the top of the standings as the title race gathers momentum.

Despite sitting bottom with just five points and still searching for their first triumph of the campaign, Calvary proved they can frustrate the champions. The newcomers managed to hold Vipers to a goalless stalemate in the reverse fixture played at Midigo P/S Grounds earlier in the season.

Vipers could hand a debut to Congolese defender Glodi Beyuku Munsi, who has now been cleared to feature. The home side will also count on the attacking influence of Karim Watambala, Usama Arafat, Milton Karisa and Chukwuma Odili as they chase maximum points.

Elsewhere, record champions SC Villa make the trip to Bugonga to face Entebbe UPPC at Fisheries Training Institute Ground. Villa sit nine points behind the leaders and cannot afford another slip if they are to remain in the championship conversation.

The Jogoos will look to experienced striker Frank Ssebuufu alongside Patrick Kakande, Hassan Mubiru and Najib Yiga to deliver the goals.

However, Entebbe have shown defensive resilience throughout the season, registering 12 clean sheets so far, and they will hope forward Ambrose Kigozi can provide the cutting edge in attack.
