Wakiso Giants FC and SC Villa played out a 1-1 draw in an intense StarTimes Uganda Premier League second-round opener.
The visitors took the lead in the first half, but Wakiso Giants found a way back to secure a crucial point at home.
SC Villa went ahead in the 23rd minute when Aslam Ssemakula rose highest to nod home a well-delivered cross from David Owori, putting the Jogoos in front at halftime.
However, Wakiso Giants fought back in the second half, with Hudson Mbalire leveling matters in the 61st minute after reacting quickest to a rebound off the woodwork.
With the draw, SC Villa remains in 8th place on the league table with 21 points, while Wakiso Giants stay in 14th position with 13 points.
Next up, SC Villa will take on arch-rivals Express FC in a thrilling Kampala derby on Saturday, February 15. Wakiso Giants, on the other hand, will seek their first win of the second round when they visit Lugazi FC on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
