West Nile Down Acholi as FUFA Drum Action Heats Up Across Groups A and C

The FUFA Drum Championship roared back into action on Saturday, 10th January, as match-day six fixtures took centre stage in Groups A and C.

In Group A, a highly anticipated showdown saw second-placed West Nile lock horns with table-toppers Acholi in what proved to be a decisive encounter.

West Nile emerged victorious with a commanding 2-0 win, courtesy of goals from Joel Jangeyambe and Ejosiga Mudasir.

The triumph lifted West Nile to nine points, drawing level with Acholi at the summit of Group A, while Bugisu remain rooted at the bottom without a point.

As a result, both West Nile and Acholi have secured qualification to the quarterfinals of the prestigious regional tournament.

Elsewhere in Group C, Bunyoro and Kigezi battled to a 1-1 stalemate in a closely contested affair. Bunyoro broke the deadlock shortly before the halftime whistle through Byaruhanga JB, who struck two minutes to the interval.

However, Kigezi found a late response as Alex Mandela restored parity in the 83rd minute to ensure the spoils were shared.

Following the draw, both Bunyoro and Kigezi sit on five points, with Kigezi occupying second position due to a superior goal difference. Busoga also remain in the mix at the top of the group, level on five points.

The tournament continues on Sunday with two fixtures lined up across Groups B and D. Lango will host Ankole in a Group B clash at Booma Ground, while Kampala welcome Teso at Muteesa II Stadium in a Group D encounter.
