Why URA FC Sacked Ways With Alex Isabirye

URA Football Club has ended its working relationship with head coach Alex Isabirye, closing a second stint that did not live up to the expectations set when he returned in May 2023.

Isabirye came back to URA with a strong record, having done well at Express and known for creating hardworking, competitive teams. But things never really worked out this time.
In 36 matches, he managed 17 wins, nine draws and 10 losses, results that slowly reduced confidence in his leadership.

Sunday’s 2–1 loss to KCCA was the final blow. The defeat was even more painful because former URA striker Ivan Ahimbisibwe scored both goals against them.

URA also fired the entire technical bench, showing they are planning a full fresh start.

For Isabirye, this is another stop in a long coaching career that has taken him to many clubs including BUL, Vipers, Express, Soana, Kyetume, Nyamityobora and even Horseed SC in Somalia.

URA currently sits 11th in the Uganda Premier League with only eight points from seven games, a position far below the club’s goals.
