Agondeze Strike Hands Kitara Narrow Victory Over Mbarara City

Kitara FC returned to winning form on Tuesday evening after edging Mbarara City FC 1–0 in a tightly contested Uganda Premier League encounter at Rwamwanja Stadium.

The Royals needed only nine minutes to find the breakthrough, with Edson Agondeze delivering the decisive strike that ultimately separated the two sides.

Kitara approached the fixture determined to recover from last week’s stalemate against UPDF FC in Bombo, a result that had slowed their momentum in the chase for the league summit currently occupied by Vipers SC.

Head coach Wasswa Bbosa welcomed back experienced forward Patrick Kaddu, who had been unavailable due to suspension. Kaddu started the match but lasted only the opening half before being replaced by Chrispus Asiki shortly after the restart.

Despite several attempts by the hosts to draw level, Kitara maintained their composure defensively and protected their early lead until the final whistle.

The victory keeps the Royals firmly in the title conversation as they climb to 43 points, narrowing the gap to just one point behind leaders Vipers.

Meanwhile, Mbarara City remain deep in the relegation battle, sitting 13th on the table with 15 points.
