The 2025/26 Uganda Premier League resumed in thrilling fashion on Tuesday, January 6, Matchday 12, delivering renewed hope in Hoima and a major upset in Kampala.
Uganda Premier League debutants Buhimba United Saints FC finally rediscovered their winning touch, edging Maroons FC 1–0 at the Royal Park in Butema, Hoima, to halt an eight-match winless streak.
Derick Byabachwezi emerged as the match hero, firing home the decisive goal to restore belief in a Saints side that had desperately needed a turning point.
The victory marked Buhimba’s first since their blistering start to top-flight football, where they won their opening three matches before suffering a prolonged slump.
Now under the stewardship of Robert Mukasa, the Saints are showing signs of revival.
Three games into his tenure and still unbeaten, Mukasa has guided Buhimba back into the top half of the table. The Hoima-based side now sits on 13 points from 12 matches, steadying their maiden Premier League campaign.
