Police FC produced a commanding performance to defeat KCCA FC 2-0 in a Uganda Premier League matchday 12 encounter played on Tuesday at the Kira Road Arena.
The league returned after a two-week AFCON break with an exciting showdown between the Cops and the Kasasiro Boys, but it was the hosts who rose to the occasion with a disciplined and clinical second-half display.
The first half ended goalless, with both sides cancelling each other out in a tightly contested affair. However, Police FC came out with renewed purpose after the break and were rewarded six minutes into the second half.
Brian James Obedi broke the deadlock in the 51st minute, calmly finishing off a well-weighted pass from man-of-the-match Denis Kalanzi to give the hosts a deserved lead.
Police continued to grow in confidence and doubled their advantage in the 62nd minute through Congolese forward Bedia Djuma Ikamba, whose composed finish sealed all three points for the home side.
KCCA FC struggled to find a response as Police FC maintained their defensive solidity and game control to see out a famous victory.
The win lifts Police FC to third place on the Uganda Premier League table with 24 points, while KCCA FC remain second on 26 points, keeping the title race finely balanced as the season progresses.
