BUL FC head coach Alex Isabirye has challenged his players to show character and determination as the Eastern Giants welcome SC Villa to the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, for a Uganda Premier League showdown on Friday at 4 pm.
BUL head into the fixture encouraged by a hard-earned victory over Calvary FC, a result that helped lift morale after a difficult run.
Isabirye was quick to credit that win as a foundation for renewed belief, even as his side continues to grapple with injuries and an uphill task in the league standings.
“We are grateful to God for life and for enabling us to win our last match against Calvary,” Isabirye said. “But we also know that SC Villa is a very tough opponent. They are five points ahead of us and have been enjoying a good run, while we have had our challenges.”
The BUL tactician is nevertheless confident that playing at home offers his team an opportunity to turn a corner.
He emphasized the need for steady improvement, starting with securing all three points against the Jogoos.
“Being at home gives us belief. We want to improve game by game, and that journey has to begin with a win in this match,” he added.
BUL’s preparations have been complicated by the absence of key personnel. Regular starters Nicolas Mwere, Jerome Kirya and Pascal Ngobi are all unavailable, leaving the squad stretched as they prepare to face one of the league’s most decorated sides.
Despite the setbacks, Isabirye insists the players at his disposal are ready to rise to the occasion.
He remains convinced that collective effort, discipline and resilience can help BUL overcome both their injury woes and a formidable SC Villa side.
