The Uganda Premier League weekend delivered contrasting emotions as NEC were held to a 1–1 draw by BUL FC at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, while Lugazi FC dismantled Buhimba United Saints 5–2 in a thrilling goal fest at Najjembe.
At Lugogo, all eyes were on Badru Kaddu, who took charge of NEC for the first time. His tenure appeared to begin on a high when Joseph Dhata broke the deadlock in the 27th minute with a composed finish after sustained pressure from the hosts.
However, BUL refused to crumble, and just as NEC seemed set to take a halftime lead, Jerome Kirya struck a precise equalizer to silence the home fans. Both sides pushed hard after the restart, but the match ended in a stalemate, leaving Kaddu with mixed feelings on his debut.

The result keeps BUL’s impressive run intact as they are now 23 league matches unbeaten and 25 in all competitions since their last defeat to UPDF in December 2024.
The Jinja-based side stay fourth with 10 points, level with SC Villa and Entebbe UPPC, while NEC remain 12th on six points, showing flashes of potential under their new coach.
Meanwhile, Lugazi FC roared back to life in spectacular fashion, humbling Buhimba United Saints 5–2 at the Lugazi Stadium. The hosts were in ruthless form, with Freedom Mungudit bagging a brace, and further goals coming from David Bagoole, Abdul Kalanzi, and Dawson Mafumu.
Buhimba managed two consolation goals, one through Sadick Moro and the other a Richard Ayiko own goal, but they were thoroughly outplayed.
The Saints have now lost three matches in a row, conceding 11 goals during that stretch after a flying start to the campaign.
