After back-to-back underwhelming campaigns, Bulemeezi Ssaza FC have chosen to act early, unveiling seasoned tactician Edward Golola as Technical Advisor in a bold step aimed at restoring the county’s competitive edge.
The appointment, confirmed on February 23, signals intent from the Bulemeezi leadership, with more than three months remaining before the curtain rises on the Buganda Masaza Cup. The 2026 edition, sponsored by Plascon, will kick off with Bulemeezi playing away in Buwekula.
Golola’s arrival adds pedigree and strategic depth to a bench led by Head Coach Leonard Ssekamatte.
The respected football mind is expected to provide guidance, structure and mentorship to the coaching unit as Bulemeezi seek a return to knockout football after consecutive group-stage exits.
Ssekamatte, popularly known as Coach Leo, brings a wealth of Masaza experience. He previously served as assistant to Medi Nyanzi at Kyadondo Ssaza FC and also worked under Simon Peter Mugerwa at Bulemeezi Ssaza FC during one of the county’s successful eras.
He will be supported by two assistants with proven credentials in the Masaza ecosystem. Anthony Bongole and Nasibu Mukasa both previously held head coaching roles at neighboring Buluuli Ssaza FC and have handled responsibilities across different counties in the competition.

Bulemeezi are not strangers to success in the Masaza Cup. The county lifted the prestigious trophy in 2012, 2013 and 2019, establishing themselves as one of the competition’s modern powerhouses.
However, recent seasons have fallen short of expectation, with early exits dampening the county’s proud football heritage.
