Calvary Chase First Victory While KCCA, Police Clash in Matchday 19

Matchday 19 of the Uganda Premier League gets underway on Friday with four intriguing fixtures as teams battle for crucial points across different venues.

At the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, BUL FC welcome bottom-placed Calvary FC in a contest that carries different ambitions for both sides.

Calvary travel to Njeru desperate to finally break their miserable run, having failed to win any of their opening 18 league matches.

The newcomers sit rock bottom with only five points and remain the only team yet to register victory this season.

Their latest outing ended in controversy when their game against SC Villa was overshadowed by chaotic scenes while they trailed 1-0.

Meanwhile, BUL head into the encounter with renewed confidence after a solid 2-0 away triumph over Police FC in their previous match.

The Jinja-based side will be favourites again, especially against opponents they defeated 1-0 earlier in the season thanks to a solitary strike from Karim Ndugwa in what was Alex Isabirye’s first game in charge.

BUL currently occupy eighth place on the table with 23 points and will be eager to maintain their upward momentum.

Elsewhere on Friday, Lugazi FC host title-chasing NEC FC at Lugazi Stadium, while UPDF FC face defending champions Kitara FC at the Military Barracks Ground.

Under the floodlights later in the evening, nine-time champions KCCA FC take on city neighbours Police FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium in what promises to be an entertaining Kampala derby.

The remainder of the Matchday 19 fixtures will be played on Saturday.

At the Fisheries Training Institute Grounds, Entebbe UPPC FC welcome URA FC, while Maroons FC host Buhimba United Saints FC at the Prisons Ground.

In western Uganda, Mbarara City FC take on league leaders Vipers SC at Kakyeka Stadium, before the weekend wraps up with a historic clash between SC Villa and Express FC under the lights at FUFA Stadium Kadiba.
