Misagga Joins SC Villa Presidential Race

Former Sports Club Villa president Ben Immanuel Misagga has officially joined the race for the club’s top leadership position ahead of the 2026–2030 term.

Engineer Misagga collected nomination forms through a representative, becoming the fifth aspirant to declare interest in leading the 17-time Uganda Premier League champions.

He joins incumbent Hajji Omar Ahmed Hussein, Bulezi Kawuma, Denis Ssebugwawo Mbidde and Farouk Meywa in what is shaping up to be a highly competitive electoral contest.

The roadmap for the upcoming elections was outlined on Thursday evening by the club’s Electoral Commission chairman Brian Kajubi during a media briefing held in Kulambiro, a suburb of Kampala.

Kajubi, a sports lawyer who has previously supervised elections at the Uganda Olympic Committee, assured members and supporters that the process would be transparent and conducted within the framework of the law.

“The Sports Club Villa Electoral Commission will strictly follow the electoral laws with fairness and transparency. We aim to deliver a peaceful and democratic process and will not be influenced by any external forces,” Kajubi said.

He further emphasized that the commission will rely on four key legal frameworks: the Villa Members Trust Deed, the club’s internal regulations, the Electoral Code, and governance principles guided by FIFA and FUFA.

All aspirants who have picked nomination forms must return them by Saturday, March 7, 2026, having fulfilled all the requirements including the payment of a non-refundable fee of UGX 100 million.

According to the roadmap, the deadline for the registration of fans eligible to vote is March 15, 2026. Candidates will undergo vetting by the club trustees on March 8, while any disputes or complaints will be addressed by the club’s Adhoc Committee on March 10. On the same day, the final list of successful candidates will be published.

The elections themselves are scheduled for Sunday, March 22, 2026, with voting expected to be conducted through a secret ballot system.

Kajubi also noted that discussions are ongoing about the possibility of allowing supporters in the diaspora to take part in the voting process if a suitable mechanism is established.

The Electoral Commission overseeing the process includes Kajubi alongside Fred Enanga, Brandon Kajura and Desire Mukisa.

Sports Club Villa remain the most successful side in the history of the Uganda Premier League with 17 league titles.
