The highly anticipated End of Year Primary Schools Sports Gala is back for its 3rd edition, with organizers confirming Wednesday, 26th November 2025 as the official date.
This year’s action-packed event will unfold at the Ntenjeru Ssaza Grounds in Kayunga, a venue expected to host hundreds of young athletes from across Uganda.
The annual gala was founded to go beyond ordinary school sports. It aims to promote holistic growth, improve physical fitness, enhance mental well-being, and strengthen life skills among learners. The 2025 edition is designed to foster a spirit of friendship, competition, and youthful engagement through sport.
Unlike the previous editions, this year’s tournament features an expanded programme, including Netball for Girls (U12 & U14) and Boys Football (U12 & U14), giving participants even more opportunities to showcase their athletic abilities.
Organizing Committee Chairperson Mbuga Swaibu emphasized that the Gala’s value stretches far beyond competition.

“The End of Year Primary Schools Sports Gala is a visionary stage built to identify, nurture, and elevate Uganda’s budding talent,” he said.
“It is more than a tournament—it is a mission-driven platform that celebrates student achievement within a lively and supportive community. Through sport, we reinforce essential academic and life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and resilience.”
The Gala debuted in 2023 with six pioneering schools, including Rays of Grace Junior School, Kanjuki Junior School, Mbiko Junior School, Francesta Junior School Kayunga, and Natetta Church of Uganda Primary School.
The second edition in 2024 maintained the strong turnout, with six schools participating—among them St Mary’s Namasuba Primary School, the reigning FUFA Odilo champions, and Kanjuki Junior School, the 2024 U12 national champions.
The upcoming edition has already drawn massive interest following the inclusion of netball. Several top-performing schools have expressed readiness to take part, including:
- Janan Primary School Bombo (Luweero)
- St Mark Junior School Kayunga
- Medinah Islamic Junior School (Wakiso)
- St John’s Kaama Mukono
- Perfect Junior School

…and many more.
As was the case last year, St Mark Schools Kayunga has renewed its partnership with Kanjuki Junior School to support team registration, trophies, medals, meals, and other essentials to ensure a memorable experience for the young athletes.
