Gomba finally found their spark in the 2025 Masaza Cup, clinching a commanding 2-0 victory over Busiro on Sunday, August 10, at the buzzing Kabulasoke PTC grounds.
In a high-octane clash that had fans on the edge of their seats, both giants locked horns in a tense first half that ended in a barren stalemate.
But the second half was all about the Lions of Gomba roaring back to life.
The breakthrough came just after the hour mark when Robert Ssewanyana smashed home the opener, sending the home crowd into frenzy.

Gomba kept pushing to put the game to bed, and their persistence paid off in the 81st minute when substitute Murushid Kiyingi coolly slotted in the second, sealing their first triumph of the campaign.
The win lifts Gomba to 5th place on the Bulange Group log with 5 points, level with bottom-placed Busiro but separated by goal difference.

The revival trail continues next Sunday, August 17, when Gomba welcome fierce rivals Buddu back to Kabulasoke.
Busiro, licking their wounds, will hope to bounce back when they face Busujju at Ssentema Ssaza Grounds.
