HAMZ Stadium, Nakivubo to Host 2025 Masaza Cup Final After 12-Year Wait

The historic HAMZ Stadium, Nakivubo, is set to reclaim its spotlight with the 2025 Airtel Masaza Cup final confirmed for 1st November.

Buganda Kingdom’s Minister for Youth, Sports and Arts, Owek. Robert Sserwanga, revealed that the newly refurbished venue will stage the tournament’s grand finale.

This marks Nakivubo’s first Masaza Cup final since 2013, when Mawokota edged Ssingo 1-0 to claim their third crown, courtesy of a strike from then-rising star Farouk Miya.

That victory added to Mawokota’s earlier titles in 2005 and 2007, cementing their place among the tournament’s elite.

As anticipation builds, the race to Nakivubo intensifies with the quarterfinal first legs scheduled for 27th September.

Ssese will lock horns with Kyaggwe at Lutoboka Grounds, Busujju will test their strength against Buweekula at Kakindu Parish Playground, Bugerere will clash with Buluuli at Ntenjeru Ground, while Mawokota and Ssingo will rekindle their old rivalry at Buwama Ssaza Ground.

Defending champions Buddu, who silenced Kyaggwe 1-0 in last year’s final at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, will be keenly watching as new challengers battle for supremacy and the chance to walk through Nakivubo’s gates of destiny.
