Harambee Stars Goalkeeper Suspended Amid Explosive Match-Fixing Scandal

Kenyan football has been rocked by a major controversy after Harambee Stars shot-stopper Patrick Matasi found himself at the center of a damning match-fixing saga.

A leaked covert video has surfaced, allegedly capturing Matasi in secret negotiations to rig the outcome of a Kenya Premier League (KPL) match.

The viral clip, recorded without his knowledge, reportedly shows Matasi seated in the rear-right seat of a parked car, engrossed in a discussion with an unidentified individual.

While the person he converses with remains unseen, their voice is distinctly heard instructing Matasi on how to influence the match results.

“You know how we’ve been handling this, I’ve never disappointed you, and you’ve never failed me,” the anonymous individual tells Matasi, suggesting that this might not be their first such arrangement.

The seasoned goalkeeper, currently playing for Kakamega Homeboyz, has previously donned the jerseys of Police FC, Tusker, Posta Rangers, and AFC Leopards.

Widely regarded as one of Kenya’s finest goalkeepers, Matasi’s recent performances have, however, raised eyebrows, with critics pointing out questionable errors both at club level and in national team outings.

With this revelation, suspicions deepen over whether some of his glaring mistakes were genuine lapses or deliberate acts under external influence.

The Kenya Football Federation (FKF) has swiftly moved to take action, handing Matasi a provisional 90-day suspension from all football-related activities as investigations intensify.

As this scandal unfolds, Kenyan football stakeholders are left grappling with concerns over the integrity of the sport, while fans await further developments in what could be one of the most shocking match-fixing cases in recent times.
