Ibrahim Kyobe has emerged as the frontrunner to take charge of Buweekula Ssaza, edging past fellow contender Kayinda Mustafa in the race for the team’s head coach position.
Sources indicate that Kyobe, currently attached to Booma FC, is the preferred choice by Buweekula’s management as they look to settle on a new technical leader ahead of the upcoming Buganda Masaza Cup.
Although discussions with Kayinda, who previously handled Butambala Ssaza are still ongoing, Kyobe holds a narrow advantage in the final decision-making process.
Kyobe is no stranger to Buweekula’s recent success. He was part of the technical setup that guided the team to Masaza Cup glory last season under head coach Felix Ssekabuuza.
With Ssekabuuza now back at record champions Gomba, a vacancy opened that has sparked interest among several tacticians.
The experienced coach brings a wealth of knowledge, having previously handled Paidha Black Angels during the first round of the FUFA Big League last season.
His résumé also includes multiple stints as an assistant coach with Gomba in different campaigns, as well as roles at Buluuli, Buweekula, Buddu, and Bulemeezi, where he worked under seasoned coach Ibrahim Kirya.
Buweekula will be keen to maintain their competitive edge as they prepare to defend their crown when the Masaza Cup kicks off in mid-June. The Ssaza is expected to host the tournament’s opening fixture, making the appointment of a head coach a top priority in the coming weeks.
