Kampala Region ‘3rd’ Division League Kickoff Postponed Indefinitely

The much-anticipated kickoff of the Kampala Region 3rd Division League has been postponed until further notice, the Kampala Region Football Association (KRFA) has confirmed.

Initially slated to kick off on Sunday, 19th October, the league’s start has been halted following communication from the FUFA Competitions Department, prompting the regional body to suspend all scheduled fixtures.

In a bold and official statement, the Kampala Region League management announced that the decision was reached after consultations with the national football governing body, ensuring all procedures align with FUFA’s competition guidelines.

“We wish to inform all stakeholders, clubs, and football lovers that the 3rd Division League will not start as earlier communicated. The postponement is in accordance with directives from FUFA’s Competition Department. A new kickoff date will be communicated in due course,” the statement read in part.

The announcement comes at a time when clubs had intensified preparations for the opening fixtures, with many teams unveiling new players, finalizing licensing requirements, and ramping up training sessions.

This unexpected delay has sparked mixed emotions among club administrators and fans, but officials insist the move is meant to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated start to the competition.

The Kampala Region 3rd Division League remains one of the most competitive grassroots tournaments in Ugandan football, serving as a breeding ground for emerging talents and future stars of the FUFA Big League and Uganda Premier League.
