Zambian heavyweights Power Dynamos have landed in Uganda ahead of their highly anticipated CAF Champions League second preliminary round showdown with Vipers SC this Sunday, October 19th, at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
The encounter promises fireworks as both sides eye a coveted ticket to the Group Stages of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, the most prestigious stage in African club football.
However, the Zambian champions will have to brave the storm without their first-choice goalkeeper, Lawrence Mulenga, who misses the trip through injury.
Defender Chanda is also unavailable, serving a suspension after his red card in their previous fixture against ASEC Mimosas.
Despite the setbacks, coach Osward Mutapa’s side arrives with confidence after edging Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas 5-4 on penalties last month, following a tightly contested 1-1 aggregate stalemate.
Their hosts, Vipers SC, come into the tie on the back of a commanding 2-0 aggregate triumph over Namibian champions African Stars, setting up what is expected to be a pulsating contest under the Kitende floodlights.
The return leg will be played on Friday, October 24th, at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, where the overall winner will advance to the lucrative group stages—a stage that guarantees continental recognition and significant financial rewards.
