Action in the Uganda Premier League continues on Friday, March 6, with several exciting fixtures lined up across the country, highlighted by the clash between KCCA FC and Police FC at MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
KCCA will be hoping to maintain their renewed momentum when they host the struggling Cops under the floodlights.
The Kasasiro Boys revived their campaign with back-to-back victories over Buhimba United Saints FC and BUL FC after previously suffering two consecutive defeats.
Police, who were among the early pace setters this season, head into the encounter under pressure following a 1-0 loss to BUL at home.
That defeat means the Cops have managed just one win in their last five league matches, a run that has slowed their push at the top of the table.
Despite their current struggles, Police will draw confidence from the reverse fixture where they defeated KCCA 2-0 at the Kiira Road Arena in Kamwokya.
That victory, however, remains their only triumph in more than 28 meetings between the two sides. Historically, KCCA have dominated the fixture with 17 wins, while the remaining matches ended in draws.
Heading into the match, KCCA occupy third place on the table with 36 points, four ahead of sixth-placed Police.
The hosts could hand a debut to Gabonese forward Axel Mezui, one of their new signings in the mid-season transfer window, while striker Ivan Ahimbisibwe will be one to watch after rediscovering his scoring form with three goals in the last two matches.
Police will also receive a boost with the return of DR Congo-born forward Bedia Ikamba from suspension. He is expected to combine with experienced striker Umar Kasumba and Charles Bbale as the visitors seek to rediscover their scoring touch.
Elsewhere on Friday, NEC FC travel to Najjembe to face Lugazi FC, while UPDF FC host reigning champions Kitara FC at the Military Barracks Ground in Bombo. At the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, BUL FC will take on Calvary FC.
The action will continue on Saturday with four more fixtures as Entebbe UPPC FC host URA FC at Fisheries Ground in Bugonga, Maroons FC face Buhimba United Saints FC at the Prisons Ground in Luzira, while Mbarara City FC welcome table leaders Vipers SC at Rwamanja Stadium in Kamwenge. The matchday will climax with a highly anticipated encounter between SC Villa and Express FC at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.
