KCCA reclaimed control of the Uganda Premier League table after carving out a gritty 2-1 triumph over Mbarara City on Friday afternoon in Kamwenge.
The result lifts the Kasasiro Boys back to the summit on 17 points, edging past rivals SC Villa.
The visitors stamped their authority early, breaking the deadlock in the 16th minute when Herbert Achayi expertly steered home Joel Sserunjogi’s bending corner.
However, Mbarara City responded swiftly when Muhammad Kanyike danced past his marker and coolly slotted in the equaliser ten minutes later to ignite hopes among the home supporters.
KCCA nearly restored their advantage in the 26th minute, but Filbert Obenchan dragged his attempt wide after Achayi set him up with a teasing pass.

After the interval, the decisive moment arrived, five minutes into the second stanza, Achayi floated a precise delivery into the danger zone, allowing Ivan Ahimbisibwe to glance in the winning header.
Mbarara City almost gifted KCCA a third when Wycliff Ahumuza’s misjudged back pass caught goalkeeper Aaron Icumar off guard, but the hosts escaped unpunished. Despite a late surge from the Ankole Lions, KCCA held their shape and composure to seal all three points.
The defeat leaves Mbarara City anchored in 15th place with just five points from eight outings, while KCCA march forward with renewed confidence at the top of the standings.
