KCCA Visit URA in Do-or-Die Uganda Cup Encounter

Saturday April 4, 2026
Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo – 3pm

URA and KCCA face off in a decisive Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinal clash this afternoon, with both sides eyeing the competition as a potential season-salvaging route to silverware.

For the hosts URA, the domestic cup remains their only realistic shot at lifting a trophy after falling out of contention in the Uganda Premier League. Meanwhile, KCCA—still trailing league leaders Vipers by five points—know that elimination at this stage would further dent their campaign ambitions.

KCCA co-head coach Jackson Magera has acknowledged the magnitude of the contest, warning his side against underestimating their opponents despite a difficult season.

“We are not taking anything for granted,” Magera noted. “URA is a strong team with pedigree in this competition, having won it three times. It’s a high-pressure game, but our objective is to perform efficiently and make every moment count.”

The Lugogo-based side heads into the encounter without key players Derrick Nsibambi, Peter Magambo, and Gabriel Joao, though they still possess enough depth to mount a serious challenge.

Forward Ivan Ahimbisibwe—once a fan favorite at URA—will be central to KCCA’s attacking plans as he looks to breach his former club’s backline.

URA, under the stewardship of Hussein Mbalangu, will count on the influence of Moses Aliro, Moses Waiswa, Derrick Kakooza, and Fred Amaku to inspire them on home turf.

In their only league meeting this season, KCCA edged URA 2-1, with Ahimbisibwe netting both goals—a performance he will be eager to replicate.

The victor of this tie will advance to the semifinals, joining reigning champions Vipers, who secured their spot after edging NEC 4-2 in a penalty shootout on Friday at Lugogo.
