Kitara Join Other UPL Sides in Uganda Cup Round of 32 After Soroti Win

Kitara FC needed a late first half strike from John Bosco Byaruhanga to overcome spirited North East Regional League side Obule Earthquake in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 64.

Playing at Soroti Playground in Soroti City, the Uganda Premier League outfit laboured for large spells before finally breaking the resistance of the hosts through Byaruhanga’s crucial goal in the second minute of added time in the opening half.

The narrow 1-0 victory was enough to send Wasswa Bbosa’s side through to the Round of 32, keeping their Uganda Cup campaign alive.

Kitara’s progression means they join seven other Uganda Premier League clubs that successfully navigated the Round of 64 fixtures played on Friday evening.

Record league champions SC Villa secured a 2-1 away win over Pallisa Hospital FC in Pallisa, while Police FC delivered a commanding performance to beat Mairye United 3-0.

Maroons FC also survived a tough encounter, edging Paidha United 2-1, as Lugazi FC continued their impressive cup run with a 2-1 victory over Kisugu United.
