URA FC’s towering midfielder Joshua “Letti” Lubwama once again proved why he is fondly nicknamed the “Tallest Muganda”, delivering a match-winning moment as the Tax Collectors edged Patongo United 1-0 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup 2026 Round of 64.
Lubwama, widely admired for his commanding presence, quick reading of play and dangerous set-piece ability, struck as early as the 6th minute in Agago District to send URA through to the round of 32.
The midfielder connected sweetly with a well-timed volley from skipper Nelson Senkatuka’s corner delivery, scoring the only goal of the contest and forcing URA into a disciplined defensive display for the remainder of the encounter.
The victory confirmed URA’s progression as the country’s oldest knockout competition continued to deliver intense battles across different regions.
Elsewhere, Entebbe UPPC FC also secured a narrow win, defeating Ombachi Pride 1-0 in a match heavily affected by rainfall. Second half substitute Fazil “Chopra” Tumwine emerged as the hero, scoring the lone goal in difficult conditions.
In Soroti, Kitara FC dug deep to overcome Obule Earth Quake FC 1-0, sealing their place in the next round.
Lugazi FC, despite being reduced to ten men, displayed resilience and maturity to defeat Kisugu United 2-0 in Kampala, progressing with authority in a match that tested their character.
In West Nile, Maroons FC battled past Paidha United 2-1 at Bar Okoro Stadium in Zombo District. Brian Nkuubi Ssemakula and Dickson Niwamanya were on target for the visitors in a gritty contest.
At the Nyakasanga Playground in Kasese, NEC FC overcame Mabira Town Council 2-0, with second half goals from Allan Mugalu and Mohammed Kagawa ensuring a comfortable passage.
Meanwhile in Pallisa, SC Villa survived a stern test to beat Pallisa Hospital FC 2-1, with David Owori breaking the deadlock two minutes after the half-hour mark to weaken the hosts’ resistance.
Police FC also cruised through with a commanding 3-0 victory over Mayirwe, as Umar Kasumba opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Charles Bbaale netted a brace to complete the job.
With several fixtures still to be played at this stage, attention will soon shift to the upcoming Round of 32 draw, where the competition is expected to intensify further.
The Stanbic Uganda Cup, first played in 1971, remains Uganda’s most historic knockout football tournament, bringing together clubs from across the country in a fierce battle for national glory.
