The Buganda Kingdom has officially set the timeline for the 2026 Masaza Cup, giving football fans and county teams clarity ahead of one of the region’s most celebrated sporting events.

As outlined in the Kingdom’s 2026 sports calendar, the tournament will be formally unveiled on 10th June 2026, before action gets underway three days later on 13th June.

The competition is expected to run through the year, culminating in a grand finale scheduled for 31st October 2026.

The Masaza Cup remains a flagship tournament on Buganda’s sporting landscape, renowned for its ability to unite communities, unearth local talent and ignite fierce county rivalries.

Defending champions Buweekula will head into the new edition carrying confidence after their memorable triumph in the 2025 final.

In the competition’s rich history, Gomba stand tall as the most successful county with five titles to their name.

They are followed by Mawokota, Buddu and Bulemeezi, each boasting three championships, underscoring the depth and competitiveness that defines the tournament.
