The Buganda Kingdom has officially unveiled the key dates for the 2026 edition of the prestigious Bika Games, reigniting excitement among clans and sports lovers across the kingdom.
According to the confirmed calendar, the games will be formally launched on 23rd April, 2026, before competitive action gets underway on 2nd May, 2026.
The tournament is expected to run for just over a month, with the grand finale scheduled for 6th June, 2026.
The Bika Games remain one of Buganda’s most celebrated cultural sporting events, blending tradition, unity and competition as clans battle for supremacy in various disciplines.
Ngabi Nsamba enter the 2026 games as the defending football champions after successfully retaining the Bika Football Shield last year at Muteesa II Stadium.
In a gripping final, Ngabi Nsamba edged fierce rivals Ndiga 6–5 in a nerve-wracking penalty shootout after the contest ended 2–2 in regulation time.
That triumph marked Ngabi Nsamba’s sixth Bika football title, adding to their historic successes in 1951, 1987, 2007, 2013, 2024 and 2025, further cementing their place among the most successful clans in the competition’s history.
Away from football, Nnyonnyi Nnyange were crowned netball champions in 2025 after a hard-fought 32–27 victory over Mamba Namakaka, showcasing skill, resilience and tactical discipline to claim the coveted title.
The Bika Football Shield has a rich and storied past dating back to 1950, with legendary clans such as Mmamba Gabunga, Lugave, Ngeye, Mbogo, Nkima and Nte all having enjoyed moments of glory over the decades.
