NEC FC Complete Signing of Pius “TZ” Obuya

Pius “TZ” Obuya is officially back in the Uganda Premier League after completing a move to NEC Football Club.

The gifted left-footer has been training with the Bugolobi-based side since returning from Europe, and NEC have now secured his signature on a two-year deal, understood to include a special release clause.

The 27-year-old returns home after spending four years in Serbia where he gained valuable experience in European football.

He first featured for Kabel Sports Club, making 19 appearances, before earning a move to Radnicki Sremska Mitrovica where he played until 2025.

During his spell at Radnicki, Obuya made 38 appearances and scored four goals, establishing himself as a reliable midfielder with an eye for goal.

Obuya remains one of the youngest players to have ever featured in the Uganda Premier League, having made his debut aged just 16 years for Maroons FC.

His first topflight appearance came on 29th August 2015 against Express FC at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, in a contest the Red Eagles won 3-2.

He has also featured for Uganda at youth level, representing the U-17 Cubs in 2014 under head coach Mathias Lule, with Peter Onen as assistant, playing against Seychelles, Rwanda and Zambia. He later graduated to the U-20 Hippos in 2017.

Obuya is widely known for his intelligence on the ball, sublime first touch, smooth dribbling and excellent delivery.

He is expected to make his debut for NEC FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 64, where the club will face Mabira Town Council FC away in Kasese.
