Relegation Rivals Lugazi FC and Mbarara City Share Blank Draw

Mbarara City and Lugazi FC shared the spoils after a dull, scoreless stalemate on Saturday at Rwamwanja Stadium in Kamwenge, a result that did little to ease either side’s growing relegation fears.

Clear-cut chances were at a premium as both teams struggled for creativity and cutting edge in a contest that mirrored their current struggles in the league standings. The game rarely lifted in tempo, leaving fans with little to cheer as defences comfortably kept attacks at bay.

For Lugazi FC, the draw extended a worrying run despite recent changes on the technical bench.

Newly appointed head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa, who replaced Steven Bogere, is still searching for his first win in charge as performances continue to fall short of expectations.

The Leaders have now stretched their winless streak to seven matches, with their last victory dating back to 8th November against Buhimba United Saints.

Mbarara City’s situation is equally concerning. The Ankole Lions have managed just one win in their last six outings, a sequence that has seen them slide deeper into trouble near the foot of the table.

The goalless outcome leaves both sides locked on 11 points after the weekend’s action. Lugazi FC sit 14th, while Mbarara City remain second from bottom, with pressure mounting as the battle to avoid relegation intensifies.
