SC Villa Claim Crucial Away Win Against Entebbe UPPC

SC Villa revived their push near the top of the table with a confident 2–0 victory over Entebbe UPPC at Fisheries Ground in Bugonga on Saturday.

Having gone two matches without tasting victory, the Jogoos responded in convincing fashion, collecting maximum points away from home to remain in the conversation for the league’s leading positions.

Towering striker Frank Ssebufu set the tone early, giving Villa the advantage just ten minutes into the encounter. The forward rose highest to nod home a precise delivery from Patrick Jonah Kakande, leaving the home side chasing the game.

Villa almost doubled their cushion in the 21st minute when Najib Yiga found himself through on goal, but Entebbe goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa produced a fine save to keep his team in the contest.

The reprieve lasted only a minute. Yiga quickly redeemed himself, calmly finishing a flowing team move after being set up by veteran forward Hassan Mubiru to stretch the visitors’ lead.

In response, the Entebbe technical bench made an early change, replacing new signing Alhamad Sadik Nasur with Samuel Nsubuga just before the half-hour mark in an attempt to spark a comeback.

Villa nearly added a third goal moments before halftime when Mubiru embarked on a brilliant solo run into the penalty area, only to see his powerful strike crash against the woodwork.

The hosts showed greater urgency after the restart, but Villa remained organized at the back and managed the game effectively to preserve their two-goal advantage and secure a clean sheet.

The triumph lifts SC Villa to fourth place with 41 points, while Entebbe UPPC remain fifth on 36 as the league race continues to intensify.
