KCCA Cruise Past Lugazi to Stay in Title Hunt

Kampala Capital City Authority FC maintained their impressive momentum with a commanding 3–0 victory over Lugazi FC on Saturday in Najjembe, stretching their winning streak and tightening the race at the top of the Uganda Premier League.

The Kasasiro Boys have rediscovered their rhythm in recent weeks, registering five successive wins in all competitions — four in the league and one in the Uganda Cup. Their latest triumph came in convincing fashion as they brushed aside Lugazi to stay firmly in the title conversation.

KCCA took the lead in the 19th minute through Saidi Mayanja after Lugazi goalkeeper Allan Batali Igama failed to deal with a loose ball, allowing the midfielder to capitalise and slot home.

After the break, Mayanja turned creator, providing a well-timed assist for in-form forward Ivan Ahimbisibwe, who struck decisively in the 57th minute to extend the visitors’ advantage.

Lugazi’s misery was compounded when defender Paul Wasswa inadvertently turned the ball into his own net under pressure from Ahimbisibwe, effectively sealing the outcome.

The victory keeps KCCA in third position on 45 points, just two behind league leaders Vipers SC, who were scheduled to face Calvary FC later on the same day.

Meanwhile, Lugazi remain in 12th place with 18 points, sitting only four points above the relegation zone as the battle for survival intensifies.
