Lugazi 0-2 NEC
Samuel Ssekamatte produced a match-winning display with two second-half goals as NEC defeated Lugazi 2-0 in a Uganda Premier League fixture played at Lugazi Stadium on Friday.
The home side began the encounter with intent, pressing forward and attempting to unsettle NEC’s defence early on. However, the visitors remained disciplined at the back, repelling the pressure and keeping Lugazi at bay.
Lugazi created one of the notable chances in the 21st minute when Alfred Leku threaded a pass toward the advancing midfielder Alvin Birungi. Despite the promising build-up, the move fizzled out due to a poor final delivery.
After the break, NEC introduced Samuel Ssekamatte from the bench, and the change quickly paid off. The forward broke the stalemate in the 51st minute with a composed finish that handed the visitors the advantage and silenced the home crowd.

NEC continued to push forward and were rewarded again in the 70th minute when Ssekamatte was brought down inside the penalty area, prompting the referee to point to the spot.
The substitute took responsibility himself and calmly converted the penalty, completing his brace and effectively sealing the victory for NEC.
The triumph lifts NEC to seventh place on the league table with 30 points from 19 matches. Lugazi, meanwhile, remain 11th with 18 points from the same number of games.
