Title Race Heats Up as Vipers Host Police At Kitende

St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende will be the centre of attention on Tuesday night as league leaders Vipers SC host second-placed Police FC in a high-stakes Uganda Premier League encounter under the lights.

Both sides arrive in confident mood after convincing victories in their most recent outings.

Vipers stamped their authority with a dominant 3–0 win over URA at Nakivubo, while Police kept pace at the summit by seeing off Calvary 2–0 at the Kiira Road Arena earlier in the week.

The reigning champions top the table with 30 points, holding a three-point advantage over Police.

A win for the visitors would tighten the race at the top, while Vipers will be eager to open up a healthier gap.

At home, the Venoms will look to their attacking firepower, with Usama Arafat, Gusto Mulongo, Milton Karisa and Karim Watambala all expected to play key roles after impressing against the Tax Collectors last time out.

Police, on the other hand, will lean heavily on experience and familiarity. Former Vipers players Richard Matovu and Deus Bukenya are likely to be motivated against their old club, alongside youngster Kizito Rayan ‘Figo’ the engine of their midfield.

In attack, Bedia Ikamba and Umar Kasumba are expected to lead the line, with Denis Kalanzi providing additional threat.

History strongly favours the hosts. In their last 15 league meetings, Police have managed just three victories, with Vipers claiming 11 wins and one draw.

That record, coupled with home advantage, makes the Venoms slight favourites, though Police’s recent form suggests they will not go down easily.

The Kitende showdown headlines Matchday 14, which features a full slate of fixtures across the country on Tuesday and Wednesday as the title race and relegation battles continue to gather momentum.
