Uganda’s CHAN 2024 campaign has officially taken on a familiar yet formidable shape as Group C was confirmed over the weekend, setting the stage for a titanic tussle with continental powerhouses Algeria and South Africa, alongside Guinea and Niger.
Algeria sealed their place with a commanding 3-0 second-leg win over Gambia in Annaba, completing a 3-0 aggregate victory after a goalless first leg in Bakau.
Meanwhile, South Africa made their return to the CHAN finals for the first time since 2014 with a dramatic 2-0 win over Malawi in Pretoria.

With Uganda already placed in Group C as co-hosts, the addition of Algeria and South Africa transforms the group into one of the tournament’s most competitive. Guinea and Niger, both experienced CHAN campaigners, round out the lineup.
All Group C fixtures will be staged in Uganda, giving the Cranes home advantage in a group stacked with pedigree, power, and potential.
For Uganda, facing Algeria and South Africa again revives familiar rivalries and sets the stage for a thrilling challenge.
With domestic stars eager to shine and home crowds ready to rally behind them, the Cranes will be determined to defy the odds and make a deep run in the tournament.
