In a dramatic turn of events, Calvary FC head coach Kintu Jimmy Mwera has tendered his resignation, barely three months into his two-year contract with the newly promoted Uganda Premier League side.
Kintu, who joined the Yumbe-based outfit in August 2025, cited growing frustrations within the club’s camp as the main reason behind his sudden exit.
His departure comes at a turbulent time for the team, who are rooted to the bottom of the Uganda Premier League table with just one point from five matches.
The crisis deepened further on Monday after players boycotted training, demanding payment of their long-overdue salaries and sign-on fees.

According to sources inside the club, the players have gone four months without pay, sparking outrage and discontent in the dressing room.
“This is beyond football. We’ve sacrificed everything, but how can you play with empty pockets for four months?” lamented one of the players, who requested anonymity for fear of reprisal.
Kintu’s resignation adds another layer of uncertainty to Calvary’s already chaotic start to life in the top flight.
