UPL – KCCA Seek Redemption as URA Aim to Break Draw Streak

Friday’s floodlit clash at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo pits a bruised KCCA side against a notoriously stubborn URA outfit, in a contest that carries significant weight for both teams’ league ambitions.

The Kasasiro Boys return to action eager to repair the damage caused by their pre-international-break defeat to Vipers, a loss that saw them tumble to third place following victories by Police and SC Villa.

A win, however, would thrust them back into the title conversation and potentially restore them to the league summit.

Co-coach Jackson Magera will once again marshal the touchline duties, with newly appointed head coach Brian Ssenyondo expected to arrive just hours before kick-off.

Defender Herbert Achai, who only rejoined team training on the eve of the fixture, could surprisingly be thrust into the starting XI.

But the spotlight will inevitably fall on striker Ivan Ahimbiswe, whose highly publicized switch from URA to Lugogo dominated headlines during the off-season.

Despite a lukewarm start, just two goals in six league outings, the forward is desperate to silence critics and issue a bold reminder to his former employers of what they let slip away.

KCCA will also lean on the presence of ex-URA skipper Enock Walusimbi, whose knowledge of the visitors’ attacking blueprint may prove invaluable.

For the Tax Collectors, consistency has been elusive, they have shared the spoils in five of their six matches.

Former KCCA marksman Nelly Senkatuka remains their sharpest threat in the final third, while attention will be on whether winger Moses Aliro, fresh from national team duty in Morocco, earns a slot in the matchday squad.

URA sit on eight points and know that an away victory would catapult them above KCCA in the standings. Last season’s meetings ended in narrow home wins for both sides, underlining the fine margins that often define this fixture.

Elsewhere: Buhimba Saints United Seek Redemption Against Mbarara City

At Royal Park in Butema, Buhimba Saints United are desperate to halt a worrying slide after suffering three consecutive defeats—an unexpected downturn following their blistering three-win start to the season.

Visitors Mbarara City, however, are burdened by struggles of their own. The Ankole Lions remain winless and anchored second-from-bottom with only two points, making this encounter a potential turning point for both clubs.
