UPL – Kitara Break Police Resistance With Last-Minute Winner

Kitara FC left it late but ultimately emerged 2-1 victors over Police FC in a tense Uganda Premier League clash at the Police Arena in Kira on Thursday evening.

The visitors got off to the perfect start when Patrick Kaddu broke the deadlock in the 10th minute, calmly converting from the penalty spot after early pressure from the Royals.

Kitara continued to push forward and nearly stretched their advantage just before halftime, but Jimmy Kalema’s low drive was expertly pushed away by goalkeeper Edward Kasibante in the 43rd minute.

Police returned from the break revitalized and grabbed an equalizer in the 63rd minute. Lawrence Tezikya rose brilliantly to nod home Daniel Jakony’s well-delivered free kick, bringing the hosts level and injecting life into the contest.

Just when the game seemed destined to end all square, Kitara struck at the death. Substitute Isaac Atuhairwe reacted quickest inside the box during stoppage time, guiding the ball into the net to hand the Royals a dramatic and hard-earned triumph.

The win lifts Kitara to fourth place on the log with 13 points from seven matches. Police, despite the spirited fight, remain in third on 14 points after eight outings.
