URA FC Close in on Hussein Mbalangu as New Head Coach

URA FC are on the brink of ushering in a new era, with experienced tactician Hussein Mbalangu expected to be unveiled as the club’s new head coach on a two-year contract, replacing Alex Isabirye Musongola.

The impending appointment underlines the Tax Collectors’ determination to stabilise their campaign and regain consistency following a sluggish start to the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season.

The CAF A–licensed coach has already put pen to paper, marking a swift return to the touchline just months after his departure from NEC FC.

His arrival brings to an end weeks of intense speculation that had seen several local coaches, including Hassan Zungu, Morley Byekwaso and Sam Ssimbwa, linked with the vacant role.

Mbalangu is set to reunite with a trusted technical team as he takes charge at Nakivubo. Bastu Ssemuyamba, previously with Ssingo Ssaza, is expected to come in as assistant coach, while seasoned trainers Richard Kansole and Muwadda Byuma will oversee goalkeeping responsibilities.

URA FC are scheduled to depart on Saturday, January 4, for the Mapinduzi Cup, which will serve as Mbalangu’s first test in charge.

The tournament presents an immediate opportunity for him to evaluate his squad and begin implementing his philosophy.
