URA FC have moved swiftly to address their struggles in midfield after a disappointing first round that saw the Tax Collectors languish in the bottom half of the Uganda Premier League table.
With the club sitting 13th on 13 points and only two points above the relegation zone, sources close to the situation indicate that URA are preparing for a major squad shake-up ahead of the second round of the season.
According to reliable reports, the club is closing in on the signatures of experienced midfielders Moses Waiswa and Rahmat Ssenfuka, both currently available as free agents.
Waiswa, who recently parted ways with league giants Vipers SC following the expiry of his contract in January, is believed to be on the verge of agreeing a two-year deal with Hussein Mbalangu’s men.
The former Vipers midfielder is expected to bring composure, leadership and top-flight pedigree to a URA side that has struggled for consistency.
In addition, URA are also said to have secured the services of former Wakiso Giants skipper Rahmat Ssenfuka, a player widely admired for his work rate, tactical awareness and ability to dictate play in the engine room.
The arrival of the duo is expected to add depth and competition to a midfield department that already features Norman Namanya, Nicholas Kabonge, Laban Tibita and Joshua Lubwama.
URA’s poor first-round showing has raised concern among supporters, and the club’s decision to reinforce the squad early signals a clear intention to fight back and avoid being dragged deeper into the relegation battle.
