The stage is set for thrilling schools’ football after the official draw for the 7th edition of the USSSA Elite Championship was conducted ahead of the tournament slated for 27th February to 1st March 2026.
This year’s championship will be hosted by Janan Secondary School in Bombo, marking another milestone for one of Uganda’s premier post-primary sports competitions.
The event, which returns as a curtain-raiser on the national schools’ sports calendar, will feature disciplines including football, netball, volleyball, basketball and handball.
The draws were held on Wednesday, 25th February 2026 at GNS Plaza Hotel in Mengo. The exercise was presided over by USSSA Executive officials Alfred Okanya, Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi and Godlive Apolot, alongside secretariat members Emmanuel Kasakya (Competitions Director) and Bosco Omario (Marketing, Communications and ICT Director).

Speaking during the function, Okanya expressed confidence in the host’s readiness and highlighted the championship’s growing importance in shaping the schools’ sports season.
Boys’ Football Draw
The boys’ category features two competitive pools packed with traditional powerhouses and emerging contenders.

Additional grounds earmarked for action include Buyego Grounds, Bombo Barracks, Nkondo Community Grounds and the Standard High School Zzana Ndejje Campus playground.
Since its inception in 2019, the USSSA Elite Championship has evolved into a key preparatory tournament, offering elite schools a competitive platform before the major national championships.
