Vipers Cruise Past Buhimba to Extend Stay at the Summit

Vipers SC underlined their title credentials with a commanding 4-0 demolition of Buhimba United in a Uganda Premier League clash played at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Friday.

The Venoms needed just a minute to announce their intentions as captain Milton Karisa struck early, steering home a precise delivery from Chukwuma Odili to hand the hosts a dream start.

Vipers continued to dictate the tempo and were rewarded midway through the half when the in-form Abdulkarim Watambala rose highest to nod in another Odili cross from the left, doubling the advantage and leaving Buhimba chasing shadows.

Karisa was not done yet. Six minutes before the break, the skipper grabbed his second of the night with a thunderous volley, finishing off a clever set-up from Usama Arafat to put the contest firmly beyond the visitors’ reach.

Any slim hopes of a Buhimba comeback were extinguished shortly after the restart. Abubakali Walusimbi capitalised on a turnover in midfield, surging forward before curling a fine effort past the helpless goalkeeper to complete a dominant afternoon for the league leaders.

The emphatic victory keeps Vipers perched at the top of the standings with 36 points from 14 outings, maintaining their grip on the summit. Buhimba United, meanwhile, remain 12th on the log with 13 points after 15 matches.
