St Lawrence University made full use of home advantage with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Ndejje University in the first leg of their Pepsi University Football League (UFL) 2025/26 quarterfinal clash at Kavule Stadium on Thursday.
In a contest defined by quick responses and attacking intent, St Lawrence struck first through Ronnie Ziraba in the 22nd minute, sending the home crowd into early celebration.
However, the lead proved fleeting as Ndejje University responded almost instantly Davis Musinguzi finishing from close range barely a minute later to restore parity.
The game remained finely poised until just after the hour mark when Sharafah Mukiibi stepped up with a clinical finish, restoring St Lawrence’s lead with a well-taken strike that ultimately proved decisive.
Despite late efforts from the visitors, St Lawrence held firm to secure a narrow but valuable first-leg advantage ahead of the return fixture.
The second leg is set to be staged at the Ndejje University Sports Arena, where the hosts will look to overturn the deficit and keep their semi-final hopes alive.
