Algeria kept their World Cup dream burning brightly after dispatching Botswana 3-1 in a high-octane Group G clash of the African Qualifiers.
Under the floodlights of a charged stadium atmosphere, the Desert Foxes wasted no time stamping authority on the game.
Mohamed Amoura rose majestically in the 24th minute, meeting Ramy Bensebaini’s pinpoint cross with a thunderous header that nestled into the back of the net, sending the home crowd into wild celebrations.

But Botswana, fondly known as the Zebras, showed grit and character.
Just two minutes shy of halftime, Tobogo Kopelang timed his run to perfection and connected with a teasing free-kick from Mothusi Johnson, silencing the Algerian fans and restoring parity at 1-1.
The second half unfolded like a tug of war, with both teams trading blows.
However, Algeria’s strength in depth became the turning point. Super-sub Baghdad Bounedjah, known for his predatory instincts, capitalized on a defensive blunder in the 71st minute to put the hosts back in front.
Botswana refused to retreat, pushing bodies forward in search of an equalizer. But their adventurous approach left them exposed, and Bounedjah struck again deep into stoppage time (90+4) to complete his brace and wrap up a commanding 3-1 victory.
The result keeps Algeria firmly on track for a return to the global stage, while Botswana’s qualification hopes hang precariously by a thread.
Group G action resumes on Friday, September 5, with Somalia taking on Guinea, before Uganda Cranes lock horns with Mozambique in another crucial showdown.
