Ugandan footballers Fahad Bayo and Musa Ramathan have completed transfers to Ethiopian Premier League outfit Welwalo Adigrat University FC.
The pair were last on the books of Czech second-tier side MFK Vyskov before securing moves to the Horn of Africa.
Bayo’s transfer comes shortly after winning a legal dispute against his former Czech employers, who were ordered to pay him $55,000 in compensation following an unlawful contract termination.
The former Proline and Vipers SC forward had been linked with several clubs, including Tanzania’s Yanga SC, Rwanda’s Rayon Sports, and teams in Egypt, before opting for Ethiopia.
Meanwhile, defender Musa Ramathan was a target for Uganda Premier League giants Express FC, though discussions over a potential deal failed to materialize.
The former KCCA FC player, who graduated from their junior setup, also had a stint with MLS Next Pro League side Cincinnati II before heading to Europe.
Bayo and Musa join a struggling Welwalo Adigrat University FC side currently rooted at the bottom of the Ethiopian league standings with just eight points from 18 matches.
The club, originally established as Welwalo FC in 1948, operates under the umbrella of Adigrat University, a government-funded institution.
The duo adds to the growing list of Ugandan players plying their trade in Ethiopia, joining the likes of Nafian Alionzi, Allan Kayiwa, Geoffrey Wasswa, Brian Aheebwa, Gift Fred, Simon Peter Oketch, Thomas Ikara, Martin Kizza, Alex Kitata, and Charles Musiige.
