Mbarara City and BUL FC delivered a pulse-quickening spectacle at Kakyeka Stadium on Friday evening as the two sides shared spoils in a 1-1 draw that had the home faithful alternately roaring and biting their nails.
The visitors drew first blood when former Mbarara hitman Seiri Arigumaho ghosted behind the defence to slot home in the 35th minute, sending BUL supporters into jubilant delirium.
The lead lasted barely a heartbeat, Ian Amanya produced a snappy, composed finish just four minutes later (39′) to restore parity and ignite the stadium.
BUL were hit by a blow when industrious midfielder Jerome Kirya was forced off with an injury and replaced by Isaac Wagoina, but the visitors’ resilience was on show as goalkeeper Tom Ikara produced a string of late, match-saving stops to deny the hosts a dramatic winner.
The point lifts BUL to second place with five points, level with KCCA FC, while Mbarara City remain stubbornly winless after three matches (two draws, one defeat).
