Muhammad Shaban Parts Ways With Ethiopia Bunna

Uganda Cranes forward Muhammad Shaban has officially ended his short spell at Ethiopian Premier League outfit Ethiopia Bunna FC, leaving the club after just four months.

Shaban joined Bunna in October on a one-year contract, shortly after his anticipated transfer to Kenyan giants Gor Mahia collapsed at the last minute in what was a dramatic eleventh-hour twist.

However, his stay in Ethiopia has been far from fruitful. The former KCCA and Onduparaka talisman featured in 10 league matches but failed to find the back of the net, ultimately prompting an early separation between the two parties.

Although his next move remains unclear, the experienced striker is expected to quickly secure a new club as he pushes to revive his career and regain a place in the Uganda Cranes setup ahead of the AFCON 2027 preparations.

Shaban is widely regarded as one of the most gifted Ugandan forwards of his generation, having risen to prominence through impressive spells at Onduparaka FC and later KCCA FC, where his pace, finishing and flair made him a fan favourite.

Beyond Uganda, the mercurial attacker has also enjoyed stints abroad with Moroccan powerhouse Raja Casablanca, Libyan clubs Al Hilal Benghazi and Al Anwar, and also played for Vipers SC back home.

On the international scene, Shaban has earned 25 caps for the Uganda Cranes and has scored three goals for the national team.

The Ethiopian topflight continues to attract Ugandan talent and currently hosts several countrymen including Joel Mutakubwa, Emma Kalyowa, Nafian Alionzi, Geoffrey Wasswa, Simon Peter Oketch, Charles Musige and Allan Kayiwa.
