- Magic Stomers 37-63 JT Lady Jaguars
The JT Lady Jaguars delivered a ruthless reminder of their championship intent, thumping Magic Stormers 63–37 in Game One of the National Basketball League women’s semifinals at YMCA Court on Wednesday night.
From the opening tip, the Jaguars were relentless. Brenda Kayaga’s early corner three lit the spark, fueling a 10–0 run that silenced the Stormers and gave JT an iron grip on the game. By the close of the first quarter, the Jaguars already led by double digits and never loosened their hold.
Coach Sudi Ulanga’s charges put on a masterclass in the second quarter, moving the ball with poise and punishing every gap in the Stormers’ defense. The halftime margin ballooned to 19 points, leaving Magic reeling.
Even a tense moment in the third, when forward Sarah Ageno was stretchered off after an awkward fall, couldn’t rattle the Jaguars. Instead, they doubled down, holding Stormers to a paltry eight points in the quarter while stretching their advantage to 23.
With the scoreboard firmly in their control, Ulanga turned to his bench in the fourth period, and the Jaguars coasted home to a commanding 26-point victory.
Mercy Batamuliza dominated with a monster double-double of 17 points and 15 rebounds.
Shakira Nanvubya added 16, while Kayaga finished with 11. For the Stormers, Kur Ajah was the lone fighter, managing 12 points.
The win gives JT Lady Jaguars a 1–0 series lead in the best-of-five showdown. With Game Two looming, they appear poised to keep their claws firmly sunk into the semifinal battle.
