Africa’s football fraternity remains on edge as the CAF Disciplinary Committee deliberates on the fallout from a dramatic and ill-tempered 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, with the Senegal Football Federation confirming it has formally appeared before the panel.
The championship decider was overshadowed by controversy late in normal time when Morocco were awarded a penalty following a challenge on Brahim Díaz, moments after their earlier goal had been disallowed for a foul involving Achraf Hakimi.
The sequence of decisions sparked furious reactions from Senegal’s players, leading to prolonged protests that saw the match halted for close to 17 minutes before play could resume.
Despite the disruption, the Lions of Teranga regrouped and ultimately found joy in extra time, as Pape Gueye struck the decisive goal to seal a historic second AFCON crown for Senegal.
In an official communication, the Senegal FA disclosed that it was represented before the CAF Disciplinary Committee by Attorney General Seydou Diagane, head coach Pape Thiaw, and players Ismaïla Sarr and Illiman Ndiaye.
The federation further indicated that CAF is expected to deliver its verdict within 48 hours.

As anticipation builds across the continent, the forthcoming decision is likely to draw significant attention, given the high stakes and intense debate that followed one of the most dramatic AFCON finals in recent memory.
