Uganda has descended two spots in the newest FIFA World Rankings, moving from 83rd to 85th following the completion of the recent international window.
The Cranes’ mixed results during the break contributed to the slide. Paul Put’s men squeezed out a 2-1 victory over Chad but were later outclassed in a 4-0 defeat to Morocco, a result that dented their ranking momentum.
Despite the drop, Uganda still stands tallest among East African sides. Regional rivals Tanzania (112), Kenya (113), and Rwanda (131) all trail behind the Cranes in the global standings.
With the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on the horizon, Uganda will have an opportunity to claw back lost ground.
The team is set to face continental heavyweights Nigeria and Tunisia, as well as familiar foes Tanzania, in Group C, a demanding pool that could either spark a revival or further test their ambitions.
As the countdown to AFCON intensifies, Uganda will be aiming to refine its form and push for an upward shift when the next rankings are released.
