AFRICA

Egypt National Team head coach Hossam Hassan has officially revealed the Pharaohs’ final squad for the 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations, with the continental showpiece scheduled for Morocco from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.

Africa’s most decorated nation, with a record seven AFCON titles, Egypt head into the tournament determined to further cement their dominance on the continent.

The Pharaohs’ campaign will be spearheaded by talismanic forward Mohamed Salah, who has been entrusted with the captain’s armband as the North Africans chase an unprecedented eighth crown.

Despite recent club-level turbulence at Liverpool that saw Salah sidelined from some engagements under new manager Arne Slot, the prolific attacker remains central to Egypt’s ambitions, providing leadership and cutting edge in the final third.

As part of their final preparations, the Pharaohs will test their readiness in an international friendly against Nigeria in Cairo on Tuesday, December 16, before making the journey to Morocco.

At the tournament, Egypt have been drawn into Group B, where they will face Angola, Zimbabwe and South Africa in what promises to be a demanding opening phase.
