BUL FC finally stopped the rot in the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League after grinding out a hard-fought 1–0 away win over bottom-placed Calvary FC at the Midigo Primary School Grounds on Wednesday evening.
The narrow victory ended a miserable run of five consecutive defeats and a seven-match winless streak for the Jinja-based side, while also marking a positive return for head coach Alex Isabirye Musongola, who secured his first win since beginning his third spell at the club.
It was far from a polished performance, but BUL showed resilience, organisation and maturity to secure maximum points on the road.
Kick-off was briefly delayed due to the absence of an ambulance at the venue, but once play got underway, BUL settled into the contest quickly and asserted early control.
Their decisive moment arrived in the ninth minute, when Karim Ndugwa calmly finished off a well-weighted assist from Reagan Kalyowa, a goal that ultimately separated the two sides.

Calvary attempted to mount a response but struggled to break down a disciplined BUL defence that remained compact and well-drilled throughout the contest. The visitors managed the game intelligently, disrupting play, slowing the tempo and limiting the hosts to few clear-cut chances.
Ndugwa remained a constant threat going forward before being withdrawn late on as BUL shifted focus to protecting their slender lead.
The second half was scrappy and stop-start in nature, characterized by frequent fouls, tactical substitutions and limited fluid football. Calvary pushed numbers forward in search of an equaliser but lacked the cutting edge required, as BUL defended resolutely until the final whistle.
The result lifts BUL FC to 13 points and eighth place on the Uganda Premier League table, providing a timely boost as they look to rebuild momentum.
Calvary FC remain rooted to the bottom with just three points, still without a win this season and yet to register a home victory.
Goal scorer Karim Ndugwa was deservedly named Man of the Match after his decisive first-half strike.
Elsewhere, Kitara FC also returned to winning ways with a 2–1 home victory over UPDF FC at Royals’ Park in Butema, rounding off an eventful Matchday 12 in the Uganda Premier League.
